RESPONSIBLE INVESTIGATOR
Specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition (1986) and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Granada (1987). I lead a translational Research Group integrated as IP in Cooperative Research Networks since 2007: Thematic Network for Cooperative Research Fragility and Aging (RETICEF) of the Carlos III Health Institute (RD06 / 0013/1014), (RD12 / 0043/0014 ) and CIBER consortium of the thematic area of Frailty and Aging (CIBERFES) (CB16 / 10/00475). I have received continuous funding since 1998 for R & D & i projects financed in competitive calls from Administrations or public and private entities (Carlos III Health Institute, Ministry of Science and Innovation, Health Council of the Junta de Andalucía and Fundación Company-University of Granada among others). Coordinator of the Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases Area of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA). Professor of Medicine at the University of Granada since 2015 (accredited as University Professor by ANECA in June 2018). Director of 27 Doctoral Theses, 6 Final Degree Projects and 4 Final Master's Projects published in impact magazines. Our priority lines of research are the determining mechanisms of bone fragility and vascular complications in patients with diabetes.
