What is ibs.GRANADA?
El ibs.GRANADA is a Health Research Institute created on March 14, 2012, from a collaboration agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía, University of Granada, Andalusian Health Service and Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia – Alejandro Otero.
ibs.GRANADA consists in the collaboration between the University of Granada and the University Hospitals of Granada, reference centers of the Public Health System of the province of Granada, both for Primary Care and Hospital Care.
Its management body is the Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia – Alejandro Otero (FIBAO), created on June 12, 2006.
In the order of November 30, 2015, the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, at the proposal of the Carlos III Health Institute and the Ministry of Health of Andalusia, in accordance with Royal Decree 339/2014, of February 27, grants accreditation as a Health Research Institute to the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) for a period of 5 years.
On November 30, 2020, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, at the proposal of the Carlos III Health Institute, grants the renewal of accreditation as a health research institute to ibs.GRANADA, for a period of 5 years, after verifying compliance by ibs.GRANADA of the requirements demanded by Royal Decree 279/2016, of June 24.
Strategic objectives
- Develop a research excellence in the areas of oncology, precision medicine, epidemiology and public health, and advanced therapies and biomedical technology to improve human health.
- Enhance collaborations/synergies between the research groups of the different scientific areas of the ibs.GRANADA, favoring translational and multidisciplinary research.
- Promote the relationship and alliances with agents from the scientific, technological and industrial environment.
- Promote institutional integration of the entities that make up the ibs.GRANADA and improve the management of the investigation.
- Redefine the internal organization, adapting human resources and infrastructures to the needs of ibs.GRANADA.
- Develop a stable human resources policy, aimed at promoting the consolidation of research professionals, and attracting and incorporating research talent.
- Ensure the competitiveness and excellence of scientific research and innovation, as well as promoting the internationalization of the ibs.GRANADA.
- Boost the training and support for emerging groups.
- Leading Innovation and Knowledge Transfer to improve clinical practice.
- Improve the image and the international positioning of ibs.GRANADA, developing initiatives that increase the visibility and image of the brand "Granada Health” from ibs.GRANADA.
- Increase the funding for Research, Development and Innovation, with a special focus on attracting private funds and clinical trials.
