This meeting, promoted by the Innovation and Technology Transfer Unit of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada, has aimed to analyze the handicaps and offer solutions to the innovation process, with the aim of improving technology transfer from public / private institutions, as generators of innovation, to society.
The event was opened by the managing director of FIBAO and manager of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada, Raquel Soriano Martínez; the director of the Office of Technology Transfer of the Andalusian Public Health System, Javier Montero Plata; the deputy director of the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI) of the University of Granada, Juan Antonio Muñoz Orellana; Roche Farma Regional Access Manager, Jesús Herrera García; biotech Entrepreneur & Investor; Immaculate Valley Asencio; and partner of Alta Life Science Venture Capital; José Antonio Mesa Cejudo.
Currently, public and private research centers located in Spain generate a large number of biosanitary innovations, as shown by data in recent years from new industrial property registries from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM). To this result must be added the number of scientific publications by country, where Spain ranks tenth. However, the success rate in the transfer of biosanitary technology to the market and therefore to society, remains low.
This meeting, which was attended by fifty people, has had an interactive format with the public in such a way that it has facilitated dialogue between expert speakers on innovation and attendees, generating discussion topics and sharing experiences that have been very productive.
In the organization of this panel of experts, in addition to the ibs.GRANADA, the University of Granada, the San Cecilio University Hospital, the PTS Foundation of Granada, the iTEMAS Platform and Roche Farma have participated.
