A researcher from the ibs.GRANADA receives the National Award from the Academy of Pharmacy
María Ángel García, researcher at the “Miguel Servet” National Health System and the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) belongs to the Oncology Clinical Management Unit of the Granada University Hospital Complex and is part of the research group of the University of Granada "Advanced Therapies: Differentiation, Regeneration and Cancer".

He has been awarded the PRIZE OF THE ROYAL NATIONAL ACADEMY OF PHARMACY, for which he opted for an unpublished scientific self-review work entitled "A historical overview of the PKR protein kinase: from its discovery and mechanism of action to its clinical and therapeutic implications”. It shows the contributions of the author and collaborators on the mechanism of action and regulation of PKR carried out at the National Center for Biotechnology in Madrid and at the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA). This work also shows the importance of PKR as a molecular target of conventional and newly synthesized chemotherapeutic drugs, as well as its potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in various diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration and autoimmune diseases.
The author, together with the members of the groups in which she has worked and currently works, contributes more than 30 papers published in international journals, as well as several patents and translational research projects that are currently being developed with cancer patients and patients with autoimmune diseases. at the University Hospital Complex of Granada and at the University of Granada.
