20th October 2014

The nurse, from the Clinical Management Unit of Cardiology of the San Cecilio University Hospital and researcher at the ibs.GRANADA, Pascual García Hernández, has participated as a speaker, invited by the scientific committee, in the International Congress of the European Society of Cardiology, held recently in Barcelona and attended by around 30.000 professionals.

In the session "Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation: Methods in Spain," she presented a presentation entitled "Profile and Professional Competencies of Nursing in Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Programs in Spain."

The study highlights, among other aspects, the need to establish a uniform training system and to unify the "Secondary Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation" program nationwide to achieve the best results in secondary prevention for patients at cardiovascular risk, as the future health of these patients and their normal reintegration into their personal and professional lives will depend on this.

The participation of this professional as a speaker has been due to his extensive experience within the Program and his involvement in the development of Secondary Prevention at the national level, as demonstrated in the National Working Group on Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation, which until recently months was his national vocal.

The theme he developed in this event is part of the RECABASIC Project (Basic Cardiac Rehabilitation) of which he is the coordinator and main author of the same.

This national project, which aims to homogenize the activity of Secondary Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation, has been sponsored by the Spanish Association of Cardiology Nursing (AEEC) and its final report will be made public shortly by this association.
