Seven Andalusian Oncology projects may hire young scientists
The pharmaceutical company Roche has communicated that seven research projects located in the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.Granada), the Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS), the Maimonides of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) and the research centers Genyo de Granada and Bionand de Málaga will receive funding to be able to hire young researchers within the framework of these projects, whose thematic line is Oncology and Oncohematology, thanks to an agreement between the Andalusian Public Foundation Progreso y Salud, an entity dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía, and this entity.
Specifically, the beneficiary projects of this aid are “Mechanotransduction using ultrasound to improve cancer treatment“, by the main researcher Juan Antonio Marchal; “Preclinical development of a new gene cell therapy drug consisting of Allogeneic T Lymphocytes with inducible expression of chimeric antigen receptor (Car) Anti Cd-19 for the treatment of refractory B neoplasms“, by Dr. Concepción Herrera; Y "Prognostic and predictive markers of response to antimitotic drug treatment in advanced bladder cancer: Search for new sensitization mechanisms“, by Dr. Carmen Sáez.
Likewise, the programs of “Role of genomic imprinting in tumorigenesis and progression of lung cancer”, by Dr. Sonia Molina; “Study of Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Development of Disease Models”, by Dr. Verónica Ramos; “Multifunctional nanomaterials targeting glial tumors for molecular imaging and combined treatment through controlled drug release and thermotherapy“, by Dr. Marisa García; Y "Modulating role of the extracellular protease Adamts1 in Melanoma: Effects on the vasculature and macrophage populations in the tumor microenvironment“, by Dr. Juan Carlos Rodríguez-Manzaneque.
Global amount of contracts
The global amount of the total of the contracts, which are of different duration, is 300.000 euros, an amount entirely destined to the hiring of young scientists who will dedicate themselves to work on these research projects that are already active. These, of which some are already hired, are postdoctoral in some projects and predoctoral in others, in addition to the hiring of a support technician in another of the projects.
The formal act of delivery to the projects of the granted scholarship was celebrated in the IMIBIC, and in it participated the Secretary General of Investigation, Rafael Solana; the managing director of the Progreso y Salud Foundation, Ana Madera; the director of Medical Strategy of Roche, Esther Vilas; and the head of scientific projects of the same entity, Gemma Palacios, in addition to the main researchers of the projects receiving aid.
