Publication of the Call for Subsidies for Strategic Action in Health 2017
The Resolution of April 20, 2017, of the Carlos III Health Institute, which approves the call corresponding to the year 2017 for the granting of subsidies of the Strategic Action in Health 2013-2016, of the State Research Program, has already been published. Oriented to the Challenges of Society, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016.
The Call for Subsidies for Strategic Action in Health 2017 has a maximum total amount of almost 129 million euros, 128.603.559,31 € to finance all the annuities of the aid granted.
Their purpose is to contribute to promoting the health and well-being of citizens, as well as to develop the preventive, diagnostic, curative, rehabilitative and palliative aspects of the disease, reinforcing and increasing the international competitiveness of the R + D + I of the National Health System (hereinafter SNS) and companies related to the sector, with the aim of placing Spain in an avant-garde scenario in which health acts as a fundamental axis of economic and social development.
The lines of investigation Priorities of the AES 2017 call are the following:
A) Molecular and cellular technologies for application to interventions on human health.
- Integrative and systems biological research.
- Improvements in the processes of prediction, diagnosis and monitoring of diseases and monitoring of the therapeutic response.
- Prevention, development of new drugs and innovative therapies.
- Biotechnology, nanomedicine, robotics and bioengineering.
B) Translational and clinical research on human health.
- Neurological diseases.
- Mental health.
- Aging and fragility.
- Health and gender.
- Reproductive health.
- Gender violence in the health field.
- Pediatrics and perinatal medicine.
- Infectious diseases including zoonoses.
- Cancer.
- Cardiovascular diseases.
- Endocrine diseases.
- Rare diseases
- Respiratory diseases.
- Musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases.

C) Promotion of research in public health, environmental health, occupational health and dependency and health services, for the best quality of functional life of the population.
- Transfer of clinical research results to clinical practice.
- Quality, efficiency, sustainability and solidarity of the SNS.

- Occupational health (with special priority in research on occupational diseases, occupational cancer, occupational health promotion and m-Health in Occupational Risk Prevention).

- Dependence (associated or not with lifestyles or mental and / or physical disability).

- Perception, satisfaction and quality of life.
- Participation and empowerment of citizens.
- Promotion of research in care.
D) Research in medicines, health products and cell therapy.
- Promotion of drug research and development of pharmaceutical technologies.
- Research, development and innovation in drugs for the treatment of the most relevant diseases.
- Research in cell therapy.
- Clinical research without commercial interest: independent clinical trials in general and, in particular, in orphan drugs and in the pediatric population.
- Research in non-pharmacological therapies and techniques for the relief of labor pain.
E) Research in health technologies.
- Telemedicine.
- E-health.
- Information systems for the SNS.
- Innovation in health services aimed at improving processes.
