Mentoring Program ibs.GRANADA
What is mentoring?
Mentoring is a process of exchange and learning in which a person with an established career—the mentor—shares his or her experience, knowledge, and skills with another person who is in the early stages of his or her professional or academic career, known as the mentee, helping him or her to acquire key skills and knowledge to advance in his or her career. The relationship between mentor and mentee is often mutually beneficial, as both parties are enriched through interaction and shared learning.
Mentoring program at the ibs.GRANADA
This mentoring program is part of the activities proposed in the Human Resources Strategy for Research (HRS4R) Action Plan of the ibs.GRANADA, and is integrated into the Emerging Groups Development Plan which pursues the following strategic objectives:
- Identify and promote the creation of new Emerging Groups for the development of innovative strategic lines, with a translational approach that provides impact in clinical practice and research.
- Consolidate existing Emerging Groups, supporting their growth to strengthen their research activity.
- Ensure generational change by promoting the incorporation of young researchers into the ibs.GRANADA.
- Promote the participation of Emerging Groups in the inter-area research programs of the ibs.GRANADA (predictive medicine, personalized medicine and clinical research) to encourage collaborations between different scientific areas and between consolidated and emerging groups.
Mentoring Plan Goals
Through this program, the ibs.GRANADA seeks to:
- Promote the scientific development of emerging groups at the ibs.GRANADA.
- Strengthen the evolution of consolidated groups - subcategory C that require improvement in the evaluation of their scientific indicators.
- Support emerging researchers in achieving their scientific and professional goals.
- Improve the competitiveness of emerging groups in obtaining funding through competitive calls for proposals.
- Strengthen collaboration with established research groups, promoting teamwork.
- Facilitate the transition from an emerging group to a consolidated group.
- Promote research in Primary Care and care, as key areas.
- Increase postgraduate training among researchers from emerging groups, with special attention to the field of Primary Care.
This programme aims to be a driving force of growth and development for the next generation of researchers, promoting collaborative and quality research that contributes to the strategic objectives of the ibs.GRANADA and to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
Duration of the Mentoring Plan
Depending on the type of mentee, the plan will last for one year minimum and two years maximum.
