Presentation of the AES 2022: news and content of the call

February 15th 2022

The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) presented this Tuesday to the research community the Strategic Action in Health 2022, the main funding tool for biomedical and health research in Spain, whose call announcement was published in the BOE last week. The session, which has been followed live and open from the ISCIII YouTube channel, has taken place at the Health Research Institute of Aragon, at the Lozano Blesa University Clinical Hospital in Zaragoza.

After an institutional opening by the Minister of Health of the Government of Aragon, Sira Ripolles, and the director of the ISCIII, Christopher Belda, the deputy director of the Institute Rosario Perona has presented the novelties of the AES 2022, which this year will have 144 million euros to continue promoting R&D&I and stabilizing the research career.

The AES 2022 includes various ordinary calls for grants to carry out health research contracts and projects, to which must be added extraordinary calls linked to the Vanguard Health PERTE, such as those for Infrastructures and Precision Medicine. The main novelties in the AES2022 are aimed at stabilizing the research career thanks to modifications in certain contracts; consolidate independent clinical research projects; expand the research groups in the CIBER Consortium, and reformulate the technological development projects in health to guarantee a true transfer of knowledge.

Then Elena Sanz y Ana Barderas, from the ISCIII General Secretariat for Evaluation and Research Promotion have presented the call for the AES 2022, while Elena Domenech, coordinator of International Projects at the Institute, spoke about International Collaboration Projects. The session ended with a round of questions by the face-to-face and online attendees.
