Platform for Animal Models and Experimental Surgery
La Animal Models and Experimental Surgery Platform of the ibs.GRANADA, with registration number ES180870000163 As a breeding center, supplier and user of experimental animals, it offers research and teaching staff the infrastructure, equipment and advice necessary for the development of preclinical research based on animal models.
Its fundamental objective is to guarantee the highest level of animal welfare and the correct application of the 3Rs Principle (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement), through strict compliance with current Spanish legislation (RD 53/2013, after its modification by RD 1083/2025) and European regulations (Directive 2010/63/EU).
All technical staff at the Platform have the professional training required by Order ECC/566/2015, which regulates the training necessary to work with experimental animals.
The Platform is used for biomedical research projects, teaching activities, and the development of surgical or therapeutic techniques involving the use of animals. All procedures, both experimental and educational, are reviewed beforehand by the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (CEEA) of ibs.GRANADA.
Furthermore, the ibs.GRANADA is part of the COSCE Agreement for Transparency in Animal Experimentation and has implemented the Care Culture Plan , reinforcing its ethical and social commitment to animal welfare and the staff who work with them.
