Microscopy and Cell Imaging Platform
The Microscopy Platform is the oldest in the institution with extensive experience. It offers complete technical and methodological advice that allows studying the morphological characteristics of subcellular structures and microorganisms, as well as cytoarchitecture and tissue organization.
Thanks to the equipment we have, it is possible to carry out these studies not only in fixed cells but also in living cells. We have an incubation system coupled to the confocal microscope with which to carry out long-term tests without the cell suffering any type of stress related to temperature, humidity or CO2 concentration. Which allows you to expand the number of available applications.
The Platform is located on the 1st Floor, Old Management Building, San Cecilio Hospital, Avd. Madrid sn de Granada. Surface: 10.94 m2
There are two types of service provision:
- Use of the equipment, self-service or with the support of the Responsible Technicians. For the self-service management of some of the equipment, the researcher must provide certification of knowledge of the same. The cost of using the equipment is specified in the document “Rates".
- Performance of Specific Techniques by the Responsible Technicians. The cost of these techniques depends on their complexity and the number of samples to be analyzed, and must be individually budgeted.

ZEISS LSM 900 FastAiry Scan 2 Spectral Confocal Microscope:
o Fully motorized inverted microscope
o Revolver with 5 objectives: 5x, 10x, 25x, 40x and 63x
o LED fluorescence lighting system
o 4 laser lines: 405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 633nm
o With high-resolution detector capable of achieving a resolution of 140nm in XY and 400nm in the Z axis
o Incubation system for the control and maintenance of temperature, humidity and CO2, which allows live cell assays to be carried out. Which, together with the high capture speed, makes possible the analysis of dynamic processes that take place in very short periods of time.
o AxioCam 305 Color attached camera
o ZenBlue 3.0 acquisition and analysis software
