Cell Culture Platform

This unit offers its users (self-service mode) the possibility of cultivating and experimenting with all types of eukaryotic cells, both primary cultures and established cell lines. In addition to providing scientific advice to users, the possibility of carrying out a wide variety of techniques is also facilitated, which allows the study and detailed characterization of cell cultures, both at the molecular and cellular level, with the support of the corresponding Units of Flow Cytometry, Microscopy and Molecular Imaging, and Genomics.
This platform has a portfolio of services mainly related to the application of different techniques for the detection of the hormonal activity of pure compounds or mixtures of compounds of different origin, not available in other institutions. This makes the platform´s services highly requested by personnel outside the Institute. In addition, the platform has an experimental irradiator for cell cultures.
It is located on the 1st Floor, Old Management Building, San Cecilio Hospital, Avda. Madrid sn de Granada. Surface: 41.83 m2
There are two modes of service provision:
- Self-service: use of the cell culture room for days. The cost is specified in the document “Rates”, which is available to users on the ibs.GRANADA website.
- Performance of Specific Techniques by the Responsible Technician. The cost of these techniques depends on their complexity and the number of samples to be analyzed, and must be individually budgeted.
- CC_01-Test E-Screen: "in vitro" determination of estrogenic and/or anti-estrogenic hormonal activity by means of cell proliferation techniques
- CC_02-Determination of androgenic and/or anti-androgenic activity by in vitro techniques for modulating gene expression in prostate cancer cells
