She studied Medicine and received her doctorate from the University of Granada (UGR), 1996. Specialist in Microbiology and Clinical Parasitology (MIR 1993-1996) and Expert in Epidemiology and Clinical Research (UGR, 2000) and Expert in Health Promotion in healthcare contexts , educational and social (UGR, 2018).
She joined the Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP) in 1997, working as a research and technical fellow at the EASP, attached to the Granada Cancer Registry. Since 2003 she has worked as a teacher, assuming the Research Directorate from 2007 to 2016 and the Granada Cancer Registry Directorate since 2009.
Since November 2017 she has been scientific deputy director of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.Granada) and since 2013, coordinator of the Cancer Area and the Disease Registry platform.
He has extensive experience in the design and development of epidemiological studies and research projects related to the etiology, care and survival of cancer patients, having led and / or collaborated in more than 25 European, national and regional research projects. The results of these projects have been reflected in more than 150 publications in the last 5 years.
In addition, she is Principal Investigator of a research group of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP), of a research group of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.Granada), and of the PAIDI Research Group "Public Health Research and Health Services "(CTS-177). Since December 2017, she has been coordinator of the CIBERESP Epidemiology and Control of Chronic Diseases Program and coordinator of the Epidemiological Cancer Surveillance Subprogram.
Coordinates the evaluation panel of Epidemiology and Public Health of the Call for Research of the Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía and is attached to the Evaluation Commission of the Commission for evaluation of the call for research projects in Primary Care of the Andalusian Health Service. In addition, she has been an evaluator of the ANEP since 2007.
As a teacher, he participates and coordinates the University Expert in Epidemiology and Clinical Research of the University of Granada (21st editions) and other face-to-face or virtual courses related to epidemiology, research methodology, population cancer registries, cancer prevention , genetic counseling and hereditary cancer, .... She is a professor of the Doctoral Program in Medicine and Public Health at the University of Granada since 2019.
She has been president of the Spanish Network of Population Cancer registries (REDECAN, 2014-2017). Coordinator of the EPIC-Spain study. Advisor to the Directorate of the Comprehensive Oncology Plan of Andalusia since 2015.
Representative of Spain on the GRELL Steering Committee and on the Steering Committee of the European High resolution Studies on Cancer. Elected member of the Steering Committee of the European Network of Cancer Registries (2017-2020)
