María José Sánchez, scientific director of the ibs.GRANADA, professor at the Andalusian School of Public Health and director of the Cancer Registry of Granada has received this Wednesday, February 22, the recognition of being one of the Top 10 leading women in the category of Academics , Researchers and Thinkers, one of the recognition categories for the top 100 Women Leaders in Spain awarded by the newspaper EL ESPAÑOL.
In recent months, María José Sánchez has also received the Gold Medal of Merit for the City of Granada, the Gold Medal of the province of Granada and the "Antonio Chamorro-Alejandro Otero Research Chair" award from the University of Granada. for one of his research papers.
All these awards received by the prestigious and renowned researcher Maria José Sánchez represent recognition of her career and her scientific contribution in the fight against cancer, having been the first Granada researcher in 2022 and the eighth nationally in the classification carried out by the Higher Council for Scientific Research of the researchers working in Spain with the most scientific production and most referenced by other researchers.

the gala of The top 100 Women Leaders in Spain has celebrated its tenth edition. The appointment took place on Wednesday, February 22 at the Teatro Real in Madrid, at 20:00 p.m. This gala, which has been taking place for 10 years, is an initiative of Mercedes Wullich, who in 2011 tried to make female talent and leadership visible in society.
The repercussion of this ceremony has been increasing year after year and now it is also present at the MagasIn gala of El Español. The gala has been conducted by the presenter Eva González. We have also been able to see several musical performances.
As it is the tenth anniversary of the ceremony, it has been decided to award the gold award to the 10 top 100, which are 10 women chosen among the honorary Top 100, those who have been voted in three different editions. The gala has been attended by all kinds of celebrities from different parts of society. Eva González said just before starting the live show on the And Now Sonsoles: ”We are all protagonists because we all have talent”.
The awards ceremony began with a performance at the rhythm of the batuca, which has put the public on their feet. Shortly after the presenter appeared, remembering that tonight they were all the protagonists. She also thanked Mercedes Wullich for creating something that is already a benchmark in female leadership.

Comedian Sara Escudero was in charge of livening up the gala with her sense of humor. The first gold honoree to appear on stage has been Ana Pastor. The journalist wanted to thank the teams with which she has had the opportunity to work, but especially the women.
Mabel Lozano was the second gold honoree and has presented the women chosen in the category of Professionals and Independent Leaders. Among them were: Yaiza Rubio Blanca Montero, María Eugenia Girón Dávila or Margarita Ortíz Cotro.
The third honorary has been the founder of Spain Startup, María Benjumea. She has given the names of the Women Chosen winners in the Startups and SMEs category. Among those chosen were: María Isabel Rojo, CEO of Enthec, Ester Cerdán, CEO and co-founder of Laura Bernal or Marta Moya Martín, of MIA Cosmetics Paris.
Cristina Garmendia was the fourth gold honorary chosen and gave the names of those chosen in the directive category. Some of the winners have been: Esther Checa Gutiérrez, Marieta De Jaureguizar, Alba Herrero, Rosa Nuñez Walls or Paz Comesaña Pérez.
The fifth honorary was the CEO of Bankinter, Dolores Dancausa. "We have to continue working on this purpose of achieving equality," she said. With her speech, she announced the 10 winners in the Senior Management category, among which stand out: María Helena Antolín, Koro Castellano or Beatriz Corredor.
Rosa María Calaf was the sixth gold honorary. The journalist announced the names of those chosen in the Media category. Among the winners were: Ana Rosa Quintana, Ana Bernal-Triviño, María Casado Paredes, Patricia Fernández de Lis and Sandra Barneda.
Chambao appeared on the stage of the Teatro Real to perform the first performance of the night. Behind her, appeared the scientist, Nuria Oliver, seventh Gold Honorary. "We urgently need diversity in technological research," declared the honorary. Some of those chosen have been: Margarita del Val, Enriqueta Felip, Marisol Soengas, Manuela Camino López or Ana Freire.
Margarita Álvarez was the eighth gold honorary. The director of the Human Age Institute Spain gave the names of the winners in the category of Culture, Leisure and Sport. Alexia Putellas, Sandra Sánchez, Irene Vallejo or Esther Bendahan, were some of the winners.
The ninth honorary was Ana Botín. The president of the Santander bank has not been able to attend and in her place has given the names Mercedes Wullich. Among those selected in the Businesswomen category were: Marta Ortega Pérez, Cristina Oria, Verónica Pascual, Sol Daurella, Marta Álvarez Guil or Eva Cárdenas Botas.
The last honorary of the night was Queen Leticia, who was not able to attend the event either. Among the ten women chosen in the Social Impact and Third Sector category, the following stand out: Almudena Martorell, Pilar García de la Granja, Isabel Lavín de la Cavada, Mafalda Soto, Natalia Peiro and Ana Botella.
The gala also made its special memorial to the deceased Top 100 women. Shortly after, Eva González gave way to Marta Sánchez, who was in charge of performing the second performance of the night. The night ended with a video tribute to all the women who have been awarded this award. The presenter thanked the public, the organizers and asked the honoraries and the award-winners to come up on stage.
