The latest advances in Advanced Therapies and Biomedical Technologies feature this Friday in the fourth scientific symposium organized by ibs.GRANADA
The ibs.GRANADA event promotes collaboration and innovation at the forefront of medical and technological research, highlighting crucial advances in diagnostics, therapies and biomaterials
This Friday, the Granada Biohealth Research Institute ibs.GRANADA organized the fourth symposium on Advanced Therapies and Biomedical Technologies. The symposium has brought together prominent researchers, health professionals and enthusiasts of the field. This event has been an enriching platform that has promoted the exchange of knowledge, the establishment of collaborations and the promotion of synergies within these cutting-edge sectors.
Under the motto of disseminating research and innovative projects, the symposium has presented the main lines of research developed by ibs.GRANADA groups as well as other groups in the environment with related research. In addition, it has offered the opportunity to share these advances with health professionals, other researchers and the general public.
The opening of the event, which was attended by more than a hundred people, was attended by distinguished personalities such as Dr. Indalecio Sánchez-Montesinos García, Territorial Delegate of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Government of Andalusia, the Dr. Aurora Valenzuela Garach, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada, Dr. María del Mar Sánchez Gila, Deputy Medical Director of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, Dr. Francisco José Guerrero García, Deputy Medical Director of the University Hospital San Cecilio Clinic, Dr. María José Sánchez, Scientific Director of ibs.GRANADA and Drs. Jesús Chato and Fernando Campos, organizers of the symposium.
The day began with a guest lecture by Dr. Mariusz Barczak, Associate Professor at Marie Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland, on the development of biomaterials for tissue engineering, providing a valuable perspective on the scientific landscape in this field.
The round tables brought together prominent researchers from all the institutions that make up ibs.GRANADA, who presented significant advances in areas such as diagnostic devices, tissue engineering, cell therapy, advanced pharmacology, rehabilitation, health and medical imaging, among other topics of biomedical relevance. . There has also been a poster presentation of the most relevant research works in the area.
The final touch of the day was offered by Dr. Íngrid Johanna Garzón, researcher of the TEC03 group of Tissue Engineering and Professor of the Department of Histology at the University of Granada with an invited lecture on the effect of the use of bioactive molecules in the generation of artificial tissues through tissue engineering.
The IV Symposium on Advanced Therapies and Biomedical Technologies has been a resounding success by promoting the exchange of ideas, encouraging collaboration between experts and disseminating significant advances in these cutting-edge research fields developed by the excellent research groups of ibs.GRANADA.
About the ibs.GRANADA
The Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria ibs.GRANADA, is the only center accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) that develops biomedical research of excellence in Granada and one of the four accredited in Andalusia by the ISCIII.
The ibs.GRANADA is a reference center in the field of Advanced Therapies, having obtained more than one million euros of financing in the call of the Carlos III Health Institute for the development of the State Consortium in Advanced Therapies Network (CERTERA). , a scientific infrastructure to promote advanced therapies in Spain.
The Institute is structured into four Scientific Areas: Oncology, Precision Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health and Technology and Advanced Therapies that develop intense research activity and lead the transfer of research results to society, which are reflected in the 1.063 publications made in scientific journals, which add up to a total of 6.528 impact factor points in 2022.
Currently, the Institute brings together more than 1.100 professionals and 70 multidisciplinary research groups that make up, from the University of Granada, the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital, the Andalusian School of Public Health and Primary Care Centers in Granada.
The primary objectives of ibs.GRANADA are to promote biomedical, clinical and epidemiological research carried out by the different groups attached to the institute and to facilitate translational research in Granada hospitals. This research activity translates into the generation of knowledge and the transfer of scientific advances towards the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of priority health problems.
