The new Health Minister guarantees the opening of the Granada PTS hospital in just one year
María José Sánchez, brand new Minister of Equality, Health and Social Policies, this morning carried out her first appearance before the news media to reel off what her priorities will be at the head of the department she heads. Among them, she has highlighted her commitment to meet the deadlines given by her predecessor in office with respect to the opening of the Health Sciences Technology Park (PTS) hospital. Sánchez has guaranteed that the health center will be operational in one year, by the fall of 2014.
In the absence of equipment, the modern hospital is heading towards the final stretch for its opening. The minister has stated in this regard that the technical specifications of the tender will be announced shortly so that the companies immersed in it can make their offers, given that the public-private collaboration system has been launched. "We are going to carry out the phase in which we are with the greatest speed and with the legal guarantee and the agreed deadlines", he pointed out.
The Minister of Health has also taken advantage of her presence in Granada to flatly deny that the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) is going to close the Baza hospital. "I don't understand where anyone got that we are going to do it, because it is an absolutely benchmark hospital for the north of the province of Granada," he said. And it has gone even further, pointing out that it covers an area far enough from the capital of Granada that no one would consider closing it. “What's more, expansion works are being carried out in the trauma area and I have suggested on some occasions that the emergency room will have to be repaired, because they have become too small; that is to say, it is in demand”, the person in charge of the Ministry of Health has finally underlined.
