The microbiota and the equipment we use in our research platform, the protagonists of today's day
On the fourth day of the ibs.GRANADA Science Week we enjoyed a Coffee with Science from the hand of Paloma Muñoz de Rueda, Coordinator of the Scientific-Technological Platforms: Research Laboratories from ibsGRANADA. On this occasion, high school students from the Biology subject have visited us. IES Luis Barahona de Soto (Archidona), it was an informative talk about the equipment and machines used to carry out research in laboratories and then they held an interactive competition with their mobile devices to consolidate the knowledge acquired.
After the talk, the students visited the laboratory where Sara Moreno San Juan, Sonia Morales Santana and José Manuel Molina Molina, technicians from the Scientific-Technological Platforms, showed them the equipment in situ, with an explanation of how it works and allowing them to learn. more about them.
On the other hand, researcher Ana López Moreno from the group E15-EXPODIET: Food exposure to environmental contaminants Together with Gracia Luque and Pilar Ortiz from the University of Granada, they have carried out an interesting activity for the 1st year Baccalaureate students of IES La Madraza.
The activity consisted of 3 parts, a talk about how plastics affect our intestinal microbiota and what implications it has on our health followed by a visit to the center, a workshop and an experiment: Hands-on! Learn the different techniques for analyzing the intestinal microbiota.
Café con Ciencia is an initiative organized by the Discover Foundation, in collaboration with the main research and dissemination entities in Andalusia. It is part of the activities of Science Week and is financed by the Department of University, Research and Innovation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – FECYT
Lastly, Paloma Muñoz de Rueda, Coordinator of the Scientific-Technological Platforms: Research Laboratories from ibsGRANADA, visited the IES of La Madraza from Granada, where he carried out an informative presentation focused on the instruments and devices used in carrying out research in laboratory environments. Subsequently, an interactive competition was organized where participants used their mobile devices to reinforce and test their newly acquired knowledge on the topic. This event not only provided essential information about the technology used in scientific research, but also encouraged active participation and hands-on learning through mobile competition.
