The ibs.GRANADA will coordinate a European EFSA project on the effect of exposure to endocrine disruptors on the intestinal microbiota
The ibs.GRANADA research group on advanced therapies, differentiation, regeneration and cancer, will coordinate a project granted by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) on the effect of exposure to endocrine disruptors on the intestinal microbiota and dysbiosis (loss of beneficial bacterial mass or intestinal microbiota caused by the excessive use of antibiotics that attack various bacteria and which can also be a factor in causing other diseases).
In the Consortium coordinated by the UGR and this research group, partners from prestigious centers of 5 European countries participate: (Spain (INYTA), Belgium (ILVO), France (INRA), Poland (TUL) and Slovakia (UVMP) ). The main objective is to develop a European risk assessment platform for bisphenol A and analogues, focusing on their effects on the microbiota and their role in obesity. The title of the project is “OBEMIRISK-Knowledge platform for assessing the risk of bisphenols on gut microbiota and its role in obesogenic phenotype: looking for biomarkers.”
The researchers from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INYTA), the Center for Biomedical Research (CIBM) and the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (IBS) of the University of Granada Margarita Aguilera Gomez y Ana Rivas-Velasco They will coordinate the Project at the European level.
In addition, a multidisciplinary team with researchers from the ibs.GRANADA, professors from the UGR and researchers from GENYO participates in the project. The aim is to create a European collaborative platform on exposure to bisphenol A and analogs that will allow the most relevant and validated information to be shared among European researchers on the subject of endocrine disruption.
