El Grenada City Hall will commemorate on Friday the 11th the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a round table called 'Women from Granada who do science'. Prestigious scientists distinguished by the city with the 'Granada Science of Science and Innovation' award will participate in it.
The Councilor for Equality in el Granada City Council, Ana Muñoz Arquelladas, invited through a press release to participate in an "interesting meeting, in which from the city we want to highlight and make visible all the women who have contributed to the advancement of science and technology", while indicating that "We also want to send a message to our girls with a scientific vocation so that they know that they can and have these female researchers as a reference, that despite all the difficulties in the world, they have dedicated themselves to research and, moreover, are brilliant."
The meeting will be moderated by Matilde Baron Ayala, director of the Experimental Station of the Higher Center for Scientific Research and CSIC Scientific Researcher, and will be attended by Isabella Marquez Perez, scientific researcher at the CSIC and deputy director of Science at the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC); Maria Jose Sanchez Perez, scientific director of the Granada Biosanitary Research Institute, professor at the Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP) and director of the Granada Cancer Registry and , and Josefa Masegosa Gallego, CSIC scientific researcher at the IAA-CSIC.
For Muñoz Arquelladas, “Granada is a city of science and innovation and the commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science confirms its great potential as a city of national reference”. The meeting, in which all security and protection measures against the pandemic will be kept, will take place from 17,30:XNUMX p.m. at Casa Marina Pineda.
Furthermore, the Councilor for Equality recalled that as a result of the "clear and determined" commitment of the current government team to position Granada as a city of national reference in science and research, as well as to recognize and make visible the work and contribution made by women, "all Participants have been distinguished in different editions with the award granted by the City Council under the name Granada, City of Science and Innovation”.
