The scientific director of ibs.GRANADA, Maria José Sánchez, the eighth researcher with the most publications and number of citations
The scientific director of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada and head of the research group A17-Cancer Epidemiology, Maria José Sánchez Pérez, is the first Granada researcher and the eighth nationally in the classification made by the Higher Council for Scientific Research of female researchers working in Spain with more scientific production and more referenced by other researchers.
To elaborate this ranking, the Higher Council for Scientific Research, as part of its commitment to gender equality policies, has used the database of Academic google, specialized in content and bibliography of science, to publish the first edition (June 2022) of the Ranking of Spanish and foreign female researchers working in Spain, ordered by highest h index and secondarily by number of citations. The h-index is calculated by ordering the publications in descending order by the number of citations received, numbering them to identify the point at which the order number coincides with the number of citations received by a publication.
The four researchers from ibs.GRANADA following are Germaine Escames Rose, researcher in charge of the group MP17-Intercellular Communication, position 116; Cristina Campoy Folgoso, researcher in charge of the group MP19-Nutrition and Childhood Metabolism, position 141; Mariana Fatima Fernandez Cabrera, group researcher A15-Basic and Clinical Oncology, position 161; Y Esther Molina Montes, group researcher A17-Cancer Epidemiology, rank 165.
In the ranking there are represented about 500 institutions. In addition, the classification orders 5.600 Spanish researchers and foreign scientists working in national institutions.
El target of this list, points out the CSIC, "is to increase the visibility of our researchers and their work using a public access tool, easy to create and consult, and whose coverage is broader and less biased than others commonly used". It is the first time that a ranking of these characteristics has been launched in Spain.
