The European Commission grants ibs.GRANADA the seal 'HSR4R Excellence in Research'
The commitment and effort of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada to improve recruitment, working conditions, training, management and staff responsibility is officially accredited
The European Commission awards this seal to European research institutions and centers that seek to improve employment and working conditions for European research staff and attract talent
In April 2023, the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA), through its managing entity, the Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia - Alejandro Otero (FIBAO), has obtained the seal of Excellence in Human Resources for Researchers (HRS4R, for its acronym in English: Human Resources Strategy for Researchers).
By obtaining the seal, ibs.GRANADA is recognized by the EC as an entity committed to aligning its human resources policies with the 40 principles collected in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers, implementing open, transparent and merit-based recruitment policies recommended by the European Commission.
The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HSR4R) supports research institutions and funding entities in the implementation of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for Recruitment. The Charter contains 40 principles that define the responsibilities and rights of researchers and the entities that employ or finance them. These principles are grouped into 4 areas: ethical and professional aspects; open, transparent and merit-based recruitment; working conditions and social security and training and professional development. On the other hand, the code of conduct for the hiring of researchers establishes a series of principles that employers and funders must follow when hiring researchers.
The Institute is carrying out the implementation of this strategy to improve working and employment conditions for research staff, making the research career more attractive.
ibs.GRANADA sent its application to adhere to this European strategy in November 2022, presenting an internal analysis that compared the practices carried out in the institution with those recommended by the Charter and the Code, and an action plan for the implementation of those others that are in the process of being fulfilled. By obtaining the seal in April 2023, the Institute will implement this action plan, which must be implemented within a period of five years with an intermediate evaluation after two years.
This recognition aims to make the ibs.GRANADA more attractive for researchers and contribute to the development of the European labor market, as part of the consolidation of the European Research Area. We trust that the result of the analysis carried out and the preparation of the ambitious Action Plan presented here will help us to offer an attractive and robust work environment that promotes equal opportunities, compliance with ethical values and favors a balance between professional and personal life.
