Dr. Julio Juan Galvez Peralta
Graduated in Granada from the University of Granada (UGR) in 1986; Doctor of Pharmacy (UGR) in 1990 (Cum laude and Extraordinary Doctorate Award). Positions held: Research Personnel Training Grant from the Ministry of Education and Science (1987); LRU Assistant Professor (1991); University Professor (1995) and University Professor (2010) in the Department of Pharmacology (UGR). Participation in undergraduate and graduate teaching assigned to the Pharmacology department since 1991. Director of 27 Doctoral Theses, all with the highest qualification, and 8 of them with European / international mention. Three stays in Research centers:
1) Biologie und Laboratorium of Farmaceutische Phytopharmacologie (KU Leuven, Belgium), led by Prof. Joseph Lemli (July-October 1989);
2) Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Malaga, directed by Prof. Felipe Sánchez de la Cuesta (January - December 1993);
3) Center for Adult & Pediatric Gastroenterology, Barts & the London School of Medicine & Dentistry, led by Prof. Ian Sanderson (University of London, UK) (July-September 2005).
Member of the "Pharmacology of Natural Products" Research Group (CTS-164), attached to the Department of Pharmacology (UGR), participating in research related to the evaluation of potentially active compounds in inflammatory bowel disease and metabolic syndrome, related to immune response and its impact on the intestinal microbiota. Participation in 20 research projects with public funding (11 as main researcher) and 25 projects with private funding (18 as responsible researcher). The research activity has been reflected in the authorship of 134 manuscripts in international journals in the area of Pharmacology, Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Food Sciences: 66 with an impact factor in the first quartile (23 in the first decile); and in the authorship of 3 patents. Member of the CIBER-ehd (Carlos III Health Institute), and member of the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA), in which I act as coordinator of the Precision Medicine area.
