Dr. Jose Maria Navarro Mari

Dr. José María Navarro is a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Granada. Specialist in Microbiology and Clinical Parasitology via MIR. He is Head of the Microbiology Service of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, Granada. Director of the Andalusian Virus Reference Laboratory of the DG of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Management.
Coordinator of the EVITAR Network (Viral diseases transmitted by arthropods and rodents) between 2003 and 2005.
Principal Investigator within RICET (Collaborative Research Network for Tropical Diseases) of the ISCIII.
Researcher on arboviruses and other emerging viruses: first descriptions of the Toscana virus in Spain, and discovery of the new phlebovirus “Granada virus”.
Responsible Researcher of the E16 group of "Emergent and Translational Microbiology" of the ibs.GRANADA of the Area of ​​Epidemiology and Public Health.
Author in the last 4 years of 132 publications in indexed journals and 2 intellectual property records:
Participation in 20 Research Projects, in 7 as Principal Investigator
