IV Panel of Experts on Immuno-oncology
Immuno-oncology is a new approach to cancer that acts indirectly on the tumor by stimulating the patient's immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. Although it is a discipline in which it has been working since the mid-90s, it has not been until very recently when it has shown its first and promising results in patients with metastatic melanoma, significantly increasing their overall survival. It is currently a constantly evolving research field.
The objective of this activity is to publicize the new advances in Immuno-Oncology, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of new biological therapies. Ultimately, the intention is to increase knowledge in the hospital environment of new biological therapies, and the need for their protocolization, control and regulation.
