E06-Gender, Health and Health Services
Epidemiology and Public Health / IBS-E06 / Emerging
The research group is made up of seven professionals with a common research career. All of them carry out research work, in addition to teaching and consulting, at the Andalusian School of Public Health. This group has been developing for years a joint trajectory focused on the investigation of the relationships between gender and other social determinants (social class, ethnicity and country of origin, age) with health and healthcare. The team has extensive work experience in gender, social and health sciences and in research methodology in these areas, and accumulates an extensive research, teaching and consulting career in Public Health and Health Services, whose impact on the health system has been important, not only at the regional level, but also nationally and internationally. Our interest in having a very direct influence on professional practice has led to the dissemination of research results, not only through scientific publications in high-impact journals, but also through the production of guides, books and chapters of books and, in a very relevant way, by incorporating the results of years of research into our teaching and consulting work. Several researchers in the team have been part of the Health and Gender Research Network (RISG) and the Network of Research Centers in Epidemiology and Public Health (RECPS) funded by the Carlos III Institute, and are currently part of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP) of the same institution. Currently, several members belong to CIBERESP, and all are part of the PAIDI Group on Research in Public Health and Health Services.
