Oncology / IBS-A11 / Consolidated
The group is made up of physicists and engineers who work in the clinical (hospital radiophysicists) and university fields (full professors and university professors), and whose main objective is the clinical application of the results obtained in their research work; particularly in the area of oncology. Thus, the main lines of research of the group are dosimetry in radiotherapy, the development and application of radiation measurement equipment (in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and radiodiagnosis) and computational simulation, using Monte Carlo methods, applied to relevant clinical problems , such as breast cancer screening and fractional radiotherapy, and basic problems in the field of radiobiology.
Research lines
- Quality control, metrology and instrumentation in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and radiodiagnosis
- Physical and clinical dosimetry in radiotherapy
- Radiobiology
- Simulation of cancer screening programs
