FIBAO and the ibs.GRANADA promote clinical research in the hospitals of Granada
The Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia (FIBAO) and the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) have organized a meeting between local researchers and members of the access department of Roche Farma in Spain, with the aim of promoting the collaboration in clinical research between professionals from various health specialties and researchers.
FIBAO and the ibs.GRANADA intend to actively increase clinical research in Granada hospitals. The meeting was held at the new San Cecilio University Hospital, located in the Health Technology Park. It was inaugurated by the recently appointed manager of the San Cecilio University Hospital, Eva Jiménez, by Pilar Espejo, manager of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital and by Javier S. Burgos, manager of FIBAO and GRANANDA.
Professionals have discussed new lines of work and future research possibilities, which has also served to present Fundation Medicine, a new Roche Farma unit, whose purpose is to offer molecular information derived from the analysis of the genome of tumors and the identification of potential selective treatments already authorized or in clinical development, as well as possible clinical trials. All this aimed at achieving maximum precision in the therapeutic decision of each cancer patient.
The closing has been at the hands of Mr. Higinio Almagro, Health Delegate of Granada, who has highlighted the importance of promoting clinical research as a fundamental tool to improve the health and quality of life of citizens.
As reported by Roche Farma, this meeting must be framed within the commitment that said pharmaceutical company makes to R&D in Andalusia, "as evidenced by the investment" in said autonomous community, in studies sponsored directly by the company, worth " more than 19 million euros, with a total impact on more than 700 patients throughout 2017, not including other types of collaborations in basic or translational research.”
