The dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Aurora Valenzuela Garach, will close on Wednesday, June 7, at 12:30 p.m. at the Faculty of Medicine with the Master's Degree: "Translational Research and Personalized Medicine (TransMed)".

The event will be attended by Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, Research Professor at the Gene Expression Laboratory, Salk Institute (La Jolla, California, USA), who gave the lecture entitled "Regenerative Medicine: Disease and Aging«.

They will also attend Nicolás Olea Serrano, director cScientist from the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) and Juan Antonio Marchal Corrales, coordinator of the Master.

Short CV

Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, Research Professor, is one of the most eminent and recognized scientists worldwide and holds the Roger Guillemin Chair at the Gene Expression Laboratory, Salk Institute (La Jolla, California, USA).

His contributions to the field of developmental biology, the use of embryonic stem cells to regenerate the heart, his advances in the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells, the creation of "mini-organs" from stem cells, and his research on human aging represent just the tip of the iceberg of a successful scientific career that has significantly impacted the international scientific community.

He is the author of around 350 scientific articles published in the most prestigious journals such as Cell, Nature, Science, Nature Protocols, among others and has been awarded by the National Institutes of Health of the United States and by Spanish National Institutions, highlighting his appointment of Doctor Honoris Cause by the University of Granada and the Universidad de Católica de Murcia, in addition to the Gold Medal of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha and being an Honorary Member of the Region of Murcia.
