The Canal Sur "Con-Ciencia" program supports research in Andalusia
In line with its objective of supporting research lines in Andalusia, the Canal Sur Televisión program, "Con-Ciencia", carried out entirely in Granada, has delivered this Wednesday, October 8, the amount of the "Health Sciences Award - Caja Rural de Granada Foundation ”, recently received from the Biosanitary Research Institute (ibs.GRANADA). The handover took place during the course of a ceremony held this morning at the "Virgen de las Nieves" University Hospital, in which the deputy director general of RTVA, Joaquín Durán, and the director of the Public Business Agency were present. RTVA in Granada, Fátima Ruiz, who have consigned the amount of this award to the managing director of the Hospital, Manuel Bayona, and to the director of the ibs.GRANADA, Nicolás Olea. The event was also attended by Higinio Almagro, Delegate for Equality, Health and Social Policies of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada.
Nicolás Olea wanted to thank the generosity and professionalism of the "Con-Ciencia" and Canal Sur team, which "passed on this award for a good purpose". On the other hand, he stressed that "Andalusian public television has always accompanied them in a positive and constructive way, with a huge window without which it would be impossible to disseminate the work of the researchers." Both Manuel Bayona and Nicolás Olea have appreciated the award and that Canal Sur supports the research and allows them to reach society. In addition to “Con-Ciencia”, Canal Sur has the “Land and Sea”, “Protected Area” and the Informative spaces for this.
For his part, Joaquín Durán, deputy director general of RTVA, has highlighted the similarities between the media and researchers who dedicate their work to society. He also wanted to highlight RTVA's public service vocation, "which has the obligation to disseminate and entertain", and added that "on Canal Sur Televisión's grid, 30% of the programming is informative, and 35% informative" . He has also said that RTVA, which broadcasts on television, radio and the Internet, tries to take care of corporate social responsibility and promotes activities like this, because "our society has no future if there is no research."
In addition, the director of RTVA in Granada, Fátima Ruiz, who has led the award ceremony, has declared that with her program "she has become a speaker for the investigation." Public television does its bit to publicize the work of the scientific community. Fátima Ruiz also said she was proud of the work carried out by "Granada and Andalusian scientists", who "are even opening lines of research to fight Ebola."

The University Hospitals of Granada host the Biosanitary Research Institute, in which 81 groups participate, with a total of 856 professionals involved in different scientific projects.
