The Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada participates in 306 projects promoted by 57 research groups
The Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) participates in 306 projects promoted by 57 research groups. This has been revealed today in the scientific conferences organized by this entity, in which about 200 researchers have gathered in order to know the results of the latest scientific work on cancer, infectious diseases, metabolic diseases and advanced therapies.
The meeting is held under the title 'El ibs.GRANADA at the heart of biosanitary research in Granada', in the recently inaugurated Faculty of Health Sciences and has been attended by the rector of the University of Granada, Pilar Aranda , and the director of the Carlos III Health Institute, Jesús Fernández.
The ibs.GRANADA is made up of 856 researchers from the Granada University Hospital Complex, Primary Care, the University and the biomedical research centers, organized into 57 research groups and endowed with funding of five million euros.
In 2014 alone, the ibs.Granada has published 791 scientific articles, of which 662 have been published in international journals with a high impact factor. Likewise, it carries out 99 clinical trials, 82 doctoral theses (23 of them with a European mention), it has recorded 21 new patent applications, 3 intellectual property registrations and 2 exploitation licenses.
Cancer, liver, digestive and infectious, endocrine and metabolic, systemic, cardiovascular and neurological diseases, advanced therapies and new biomedical technologies, are the scientific areas in which the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada works, which has signed in 2014 a total of 26 collaboration agreements for an amount of around 900.000 euros in turnover, which represents an increase of 50% over the previous year, and in which private grants have accounted for 51% of the resources generated.
Background
The ibs.GRANADA was born in 2012 from a collaboration agreement signed between the Health Council of the Junta de Anda-lucía, the University of Granada, the Andalusian Health Service and the Public Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia ' Alejandro Otero '.
This body is located within the framework of collaboration between the University of Granada and Granada hospitals, centers with a high level of care in the public health system of the province of Granada, both for Primary Care and Hospital Care.
