The Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada celebrates its fifth scientific conference on cancer research
This year the Conference focuses on Personalized Oncology and the transfer of knowledge from the laboratory to clinical practice
The Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) is holding a conference this Friday that addresses the latest advances in cancer research. This meeting, organized by the Cancer Scientific Area of ibs.GRANADA, whose leaders are the doctors José Carlos Prados and Encarnación González Flores, aims to present the lines of work focused on the oncological process carried out by the research groups of the Granada institute and by other groups from the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, the San Cecilio University Hospital, the University of Granada and the Registry of Granada Cancer of the Andalusian School of Public Health.

Throughout the day, discussion tables and presentations focused on various areas of oncology were held, addressing topics such as clinical trials, health research, personalized medicine and basic research with projection into clinical activity, and patient integration. in cancer treatment.
The poster session also provided a platform for the presentation of innovative research, such as José María Gálvez-Navas's work on breast cancer risk in relation to polymorphisms related to single-carbon metabolism, María Trinidad Rueda's study on the incorporation of pharmacogenomics in patients with colorectal cancer and Ana Cepero's on colon cancer stem cell markers.
The day culminated with a round table that explored how to integrate the patient into personalized cancer treatment, with the participation of leading health professionals, Encarnación González Flores, Rosario Guerrero and Pilar Gutiérrez; Encarna Guerrero as representative of the Breast Cancer Association (AMAMA) and Francisco Ruiz contributing your vision as a patient.
The event was a testament to the scientific community's continued commitment to the fight against cancer, highlighting significant advances and promising prospects in the field of oncology.
About the ibs.GRANADA
The Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria ibs.GRANADA, is the only center accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) that develops biomedical research of excellence in Granada and one of the four accredited in Andalusia by the ISCIII.
The ibs.GRANADA is structured in four Scientific Areas: Oncology, Precision Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health and Technology and Advanced Therapies that develop an intense research activity and lead the transfer of research results to society, which are reflected in the 1.063 publications made in scientific journals, totaling 6.528 impact factor points, as well as 23 patents applied for during 2022.
