María del Rocío Gil and María Correa, researchers of the group MP07-Bases Physiopathology and Medical Therapeutics from ibsGRANADA, have explained today to a group of high school students from IES Pedro Soto de Rojas the importance of diet and lifestyle in regulating the response to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

The objective of this workshop has been to publicize the disease that has a strong genetic component and therefore its appearance cannot be avoided, but it is possible to try to make our body respond to it in the best possible way to improve the quality of life. In this sense, attendees have been shown how our lifestyles (and more specifically, regular physical exercise and nutrition) can regulate our response to the disease, and even in individuals with a certain predisposition genetics, help prevent these symptoms of the disease from occurring. In this sense, students have been shown tools such as mobile applications with which they can improve their eating habits.
