The ibs.GRANADA stars in a day full of activities within the framework of Science Week
Last Thursday, November 7, the Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) opens its doors to a multitude of activities that have had an exceptional reception. The activities have been developed at the San Cecilio University Hospital, where many researchers from the institute have been able to show different techniques to a multitude of Secondary Education centers in Granada.
They were all developed in the same space divided by different stands. A multitude of secondary education centers and anyone who passed by visited each of the activities. The activities were interactive and had a great reception among the attendees.
The activities have been very diverse, from how the renal replacement treatment (dialysis) is carried out in the patient's own home, as well as the approach to chronic kidney disease and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. In addition, attendees have been able to learn about important advances such as the use of virtual reality in nursing care, the application of artificial intelligence to the diagnosis of rare diseases or how hepatitis C is detected through a simple test.
Other interesting activities have been the evolution of respiratory endoscopy, a fundamental test to diagnose and treat bronchial and pulmonary processes. Likewise, workshops have been held on the importance of preventing sexually transmitted diseases in light of the rise in these pathologies in recent years and on the role of probiotics during the gestation period.
Another initiative that has aroused the interest of the attendees has been the application of intrauterine surgery to preserve the health of babies, explaining the professionals how an umbilical puncture is performed and the process of care for the smallest patients of the hospital and their mothers.
The territorial delegate for Health and Families, Indalecio Sánchez-Montesinos, and the managing director of the Hospital San Cecilio, Manuel Reyes, visited the different workshops and highlighted the importance that research has in the field of health to continue improving patient care. patient and increase their quality of life.
