The ibsGRANADA closes its Science Week with a workshop on digestive ostomies
We come to the end of Science Week with a workshop on digestive ostomies, the last activity organized by ibsGRANADA out of a total of 17 activities that have been carried out throughout these two weeks. This workshop is taught by Rocío Reina Pregón and Concepción Capilla Díaz, researcher of the group ee12-HYGIA from ibsGRANADA to high school students from the Regina Mundi School.
The workshop consisted of presenting the lines of research that nurses from the Nursing Department of the University of Granada (UGR) are carrying out in relation to improving the care provided to people with digestive stomas to improve their quality of life. life. In it they have described what digestive stomas are and have shown which are the most common devices used daily by people with stomas for their care and peristomal skin care. In addition, it has been explained what the marking of the stoma prior to surgery consists of and the importance of correctly carrying it out for these people.
In addition, the main lines of work in which they are working have been explained: application of a gel based on organic extra virgin olive oil on the peristomal skin and the use of Virtual Reality glasses for marking the stoma. For this, people from the AOGRA association (Association of Ostomy Patients of Granada) have narrated in first person what the experience of carrying a digestive stoma is and how they are collaborating for the development of the aforementioned lines of work.
