The ibs.GRANADA kicks off Science Week with activities on health, prevention and well-being

El Biosanitary Research Institute ibs.GRANADA has opened today, Tuesday November 4, its activities of the Science Week with two meetings dedicated to health and prevention from different perspectives.

On one hand, the researchers Victor Segura Jimenez, Ivan Aguilera Garcia, Maria Lopez Corchon and Gavriella Tsiarleston, of the group TECE20–Rehabilita-T: Advances and innovation in rehabilitation and health promotion, have taught in the Ancha de Capuchinos Gerontological Center activity “Let’s take care of our backs: movement, posture and well-being”The session included an informative talk on the impact of lower back pain and a practical workshop with postural hygiene exercises, conscious movement, and recreational activities related to the neuroscience of pain.

In parallel, the researchers Maria Jose Sanchez Perez y Dafina Petrova, of the group A17–Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Cancer, have offered in the Andalusian School of Public Health Coffee with Science“Increase in cancer among young people (20–49 years): prevention is key”, aimed at 1st year Baccalaureate students of IES Padre SuárezDuring the meeting, the speakers addressed the causes of the increase in cancer among young people and promoted debate on the importance of prevention and healthy lifestyle habits.

With these activities, ibs.GRANADA begins a Science Week focused on bringing biomedical research closer to the public and promoting a culture of health based on scientific knowledge.

Café con Ciencia is an initiative organized by the Fundación Descubre, in collaboration with the main research and dissemination entities in Andalusia. It is part of the activities of the Science Week and is funded by the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – FECYT.
