The ibs.GRANADA is part of the first Andalusian network for the Communication and Dissemination of Science and Innovation: ReDescubre

March 24th 2025

The objective of ReDescubre is to promote scientific, technological and innovation culture through various types of activities: scientific communication, outreach, training or research.

Having identified the main Andalusian stakeholders from different fields, including the Granada Biosanitary Research Institute (ibs.GRANADA), along with universities, public research organizations, technology parks, clusters, etc., a meeting was held to create the first Andalusian network for communication and dissemination of science and innovation, which will allow the generation of an Andalusian ecosystem that facilitates interaction between the different stakeholders and the dissemination of science and innovation.

The ReDescubre network is promoted by the Descubre Foundation, a program sponsored by the Ministry of University, Research, and Innovation. Its goal is to create a space for collaboration among science communication professionals in Andalusia, facilitating synergies between organizations and highlighting the contribution of science outreach.

During the meeting, working groups addressed the main challenges facing scientific culture in Andalusia, and future proposals were devised to improve the Network itself, promote joint projects already underway, and propose new lines of collaboration.

The meeting was opened by Antonio Miguel Posadas, Secretary General of Research and Innovation of the Ministry of University, Research and Innovation and Vice President of the Descubre Foundation; Felipe Romera, General Director of Málaga TechPark and President of the Transfiere Forum; and Teresa Cruz, Director of the Descubre Foundation. Posadas emphasized the importance of publicly disseminating research results so that "they benefit society."

The Secretary General for Research and Innovation has emphasized the importance of public dissemination of research results, which, in his opinion, "should be done not only through scientific publications, but also through any relevant means," because dissemination "means making the results available to those who can best benefit from them, such as, for example, the scientific community, industry, other commercial actors, or policymakers."

Antonio Posadas pointed out that scientific dissemination is also one of the aspects addressed by the Law for the Advancement of Science, Technology, and Innovation in Andalusia (ACTIVA), which proposes a specific open science plan and the launch of the Science, Technology, and Innovation Office in Parliament to foster dialogue and understanding of R&D&I activities in the region among the various political groups. It will also be responsible for providing scientifically rigorous reports to help them make knowledge-based decisions.
