We continue with the activities of ibsGRANADA on the occasion of the XXII Week of Science in Andalusia. Today, 1st year Baccalaureate students from the IES Pedro Soto de Rojas have visited the laboratories of the Virgen de las Nieves Reproduction Unit with the purpose of learning about the field of Clinical Embryology. In the Unit they have attended an introductory talk given by Dr. Ana Clavero, researcher of the group
TEC14-Human Reproduction and Hereditary and Complex Diseases of the ibsGRANADA, on Assisted Reproduction techniques and the lines of research that are developed in said Unit.
Subsequently, videos of embryonic development have been viewed and a Pasapalabra contest with reproductive terms has been carried out. After the explanation of the Anatomy of the reproductive system with anatomical models by Dr. Jose Antonio Castilla, researcher in charge of the group
TEC14-Human Reproduction and Hereditary and Complex Diseases of the ibsGRANADA, the students have visited the laboratories, being able to carry out the different parts of a seminogram, visualizing spermatozoa, embryos and oocytes. They have been taught the necessary apparatus for embryo culture and the embryo vitrification technique. Everyone has sat at a microscope and tried to insert an embryo into an embryo transfer catheter. All this thanks to the help of the FIBAO fellows who work in the Reproduction Unit.
