The ibs.GRANADA celebrates its fourth scientific conference on the latest advances in Epidemiology and Public Health
In this meeting, a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to public health has been carried out from bioenvironmental psychiatry, SARS-COv-2 infection, health or gender, among other factors.
The Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) has organized this Friday the fourth edition of its scientific conference on the latest advances in Epidemiology and Public Health, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada.
This meeting, promoted by the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health of the ibs.GRANADA, whose leaders are Dr. Ana Mª Rivas and Dr. José María Navarro, aims to present the lines of work focused on public health carried out by the groups Research Institute of Granada.
The conference was opened by the scientific director of ibs.GRANADA, Maria José Sánchez; the director of research centers and institutes of the University of Granada, Francisco O´Valle, the managing director of the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital, Manuel Reyes, the medical director of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, Manuel Liñan and the Head of Service of Microbiology of the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, José María Navarro, as coordinator of the Conference
Researchers from all the institutions that make up the ibs.GRANADA have participated in this scientific meeting. In it, a general approach to public health has been made, with talks and poster presentations, which have dealt with psychiatric epidemiology, environmental health, SARS-COv-2 infection, as well as gender and health, Informal care and its costs.
One of the great scientific opportunities of this event has been to have Dr. Khalid Saeed Khan, who has given a closing keynote speech on patient participation in clinical trials carried out in public health centers. Khalid Saeed is a Distinguished Researcher in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada.
This meeting, which was attended by a hundred professionals, has been a first-rate opportunity to learn about the different scientific projects in epidemiology and public health developed by the ibs.GRANADA research groups of excellence.
About the ibs.GRANADA
The Instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria ibs.GRANADA, is the only center accredited by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII) that develops biomedical research of excellence in Granada and one of the four accredited in Andalusia by the ISCIII.
The ibs.GRANADA is structured into four Scientific Areas: Oncology, Precision Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health, and Advanced Technology and Therapies, which carry out intense research activity and lead the transfer of research results to society, which are reflected in the 1.082 publications made in scientific journals during 2021, which add up to a total of 5.719 impact factor points.
Currently, the Institute brings together more than 1.086 professionals and 71 multidisciplinary research groups that comprise, from the University of Granada, the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, the San Cecilio Clinical University Hospital, the Andalusian School of Public Health and Primary Care centers of the Granada-Metropolitan Health District.
The main objectives of ibs.GRANADA are to promote biomedical, clinical and epidemiological research carried out by the different groups attached to the institute and to facilitate translational research in Granada hospitals. This research activity translates into the generation of knowledge and the transfer of scientific advances towards the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of priority health problems in Andalusia.
