ibs.GRANADA celebrates the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a diverse agenda of inspiring and educational activities

El Biosanitary Research Institute of Granada (ibs.GRANADA) has organized a series of activities to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, highlighting the importance of female participation in the scientific field. These initiatives, designed to inspire, empower and make visible the achievements of women in biohealth research, have covered diverse topics and audiences.

The first activity featured the outstanding researcher Marta Pictures Celorrio, of the group Ae22-CANCER GENETICS, BIOMARKERS AND EXPERIMENTAL THERAPIES, who gave a lecture entitled "Past, Present and Future of Women in Science«. Aimed at students in the Intermediate Vocational Training and Science Baccalaureate program at CES Ramón y Cajal, the talk took place on February 9 at the school's facilities.

Laura Jimenez Sanchez Group MP17-INTERCELLULAR COMMUNICATION, Pilar González García and Julia Corral Sarasa They presented an informative session on research in rare mitochondrial diseases where they shared their knowledge with the students of the Atlántida CIDEP cycles on February 12 at the Atlántida CIDEP.

February 16, Maria Hernandez Valladares, of the group TEC16-ADVANCED THERAPIES: DIFFERENTIATION, REGENERATION AND CANCER, offered a talk at the IES La Madraza about proteomics technology and its application in biology and health, aimed at 2nd year Baccalaureate students.

The researchers Ana Cepero, Mercedes Peña and Alba Ortigosa Group A01-Technology Applied to Oncology and Gene Therapy They participated in an event at the Lux Mundi School in Granada on February 16, where they shared their perspectives on the fight against cancer with the students.

Paula Ávila Fernández, of the group TEC03-TISSUE ENGINEERINGOn February 16, she gave a motivational talk titled "Mom, I Want to Be a Scientist" for second-year high school students at the IES Alba Longa, urging them to pursue careers in science and technology.

The closing of the activities was in charge of the group MP07-BASES OF MEDICAL THERAPEUTICS AND PHYSIOPATHOLOGY who carried out an activity entitled "Women with Science» on February 20 at the Faculty of Health Sciences, where the researchers María Correa Rodríguez, María del Rocío Gil Gutiérrez and Blanca Mª Rueda Medina They shared their experiences with Health Sciences students.

These initiatives seek to promote diversity and talent in research, encouraging women and girls to play an active role in science and innovation.
