We learn the keys to healthy eating in one of the activities of the ibsGRANADA Science Week
We begin another day full of activities that opens with the activity entitled "How you eat? Keys to a Healthy Diet” by Amira Bouzalmate Hajjaj and Paloma Massó Guijarro, researcher of the group E14-Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the ibsGRANADA.
On this occasion, 4th ESO students from the IES La Zafra de Motril participated in the activity, with whom a Café con Ciencia was held in which they were able to have breakfast while the researchers talked about their line of research on nutrition and public health developed in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the University of Granada. Specifically, they have presented the Predimed-Plus clinical trial in which they collaborate, a nationwide intervention study on healthy lifestyles based on the Mediterranean diet and physical exercise in the overweight and/or obese adult population. This study is one of the most relevant in the world in this field and has been used to develop healthy diet recommendation guides in the main health agencies.
In addition, they have opened a debate for the students to comment on their lifestyle in relation to food (their tastes, how they distinguish between healthy and unhealthy foods, how they relate to each other at mealtime, where they usually eat during the week and on weekends). weekdays, if they like to go shopping and cook at home with their families, what they usually eat during the week and on weekends, what they eat between main meals, what they usually drink) and if they have any hobbies such as sports, dancing, music etc Finally, they have given some health promotion recommendations on healthy eating and physical activity to encourage them to put them into practice.
