Fostering links and collaboration between research teams, companies and entities from the olive oil and health sectors has been the main objective of the "Olive Oil and Health" Transfer Forum, organized by the Foundation for Biosanitary Research of Eastern Andalusia FIBAO, the ibs.GRANADA Biosanitary Research Institute, the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI) of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer, Employability and Entrepreneurship of the University of Jaén, and the Citoliva Foundation, in collaboration with the Study Center Advanced in Olivar and Olive Oils of the UJA.
In this way, the aim is to promote research, technological development and innovation, analyzing synergies and possibilities for joint collaboration, in order to establish future technology and knowledge transfer agreements.
The forum, held on March 17 and 18, addressed the following topics: olive oil and cancer, olive oil and other diseases, olive oil and nutrition, and “e-health” and olive oil.
This forum has highlighted the potential that the autonomous community of Andalusia has in the production of quality olive oil, the research of excellence with extra virgin olive oil and the positive impact on human health, as well as the ability to create public-private consortia to consolidate ourselves as a world benchmark in research, development and innovation in olive oil.
In addition, Andalusia has institutions that promote innovation and research such as Fibao, ibs.GRANADA, the University of Jaén and Citoliva, which generate an ideal ecosystem or cluster to promote translational research in olive oil.
This meeting is part of two projects, in the project awarded to FIBAO entitled "INN-Value: Program for valorization, transfer and training in health innovation" and in the project awarded to the OTRI of the UJA called "Plan of Actions for the Promotion of Transfer at the University of Jaén 2018: Impulsa UJA”, both from the call “Incentives for Agents of the Andalusian System of Knowledge Aid for R&D&i, within the scope of the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI 2020)” of the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Junta de Andalucía, a project financed by it and by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
