Approved the Royal Decree to regulate biomedical research institutes
El Council of Ministers has approved a Royal Decree to regulate the conditions and the procedure for the accreditation of biomedical or health research institutes, configured as an association of research groups within the centers of the National Health System (SNS).
The new regulation includes, among other matters, the incorporation of an evaluation commission With this new regulation the Biomedical Research Law of July 3, 2007 is adapted, to guarantee that these institutes objectively respond to the purpose of said Law, therefore It is essential to regulate the conditions and the procedure of its accreditation, which is a recognition of the excellence of the scientific results resulting from the research work in the hospital environment.
El Carlos III Health Institute, dependent on Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, is the competent body at the state level for the instruction of the scientific and technical accreditation procedure. The new proposed regulation contains aspects referring to the reinforcement of required requirements, the incorporation of an evaluation commission, the more detailed regulation of the accreditation procedure or the possibility of the revocation of accreditation, among other measures.
