Professor Antonia Aránega, Professor of Anatomy and Human Embryology at the University of Granada and researcher at ibs.GRANADA, received the Flag of Andalusia last Friday, February 21, for her research career and her "firm commitment" to stem cell research and the application of new technologies in the field of biomedicine.

Thirty-three years ago Andalusia left behind its centralist past to head towards autonomy. Since then, the community has been expanding its borders and forging a spirit of competence and self-government that continues to expand. During this period, many Andalusians have contributed to safeguarding the identity of their land and, for this reason, each year the Board delivers ten flags, in each of the eight provinces, which recognize the associations, individuals and groups that they put the name of the region in guides around the world.

This year's awards were awarded yesterday in the Auditorium of the Parque de las Ciencias in a festive and celebratory atmosphere in which almost nothing was lacking. Personalities from all the institutional plots of the local sphere were present at an act that precedes the authentic festival of Andalusian autonomy, on February 28, and in which the maintenance and fortification of Andalusian sentiment was claimed within the legal limits set. by the Spanish Constitution of 1978.

In the stalls there were no shortage of prominent personalities such as the director of the Health Sciences Technology Park, Jesús Quero, the Andalusian parliamentarian Marifrán Carazo or the deputy delegate of the Government in Granada, Santiago Pérez.

Antonia Aránega received the award from Sánchez Rubio, the Minister for Equality, Health and Social Policies. The mayor also had words of praise and congratulations for the Bastetana Antonia Aránega, for her many merits in various fields and recalled that Aránega was a herald of the Baza festivities.
